Insulated Panel Products
Welcome

Potential LEED® Canada credits can be considered for Tech-Crete® insulated panel products in the following categories:

Sustainable Sites (SS)

  • Credit 7.2 - Heat Island Effect: Roof (1 pt.)

    • SRI® roof panels, with a Solar Reflectance Index ≥ 78, used in a protected membrane roof, provide a thermal barrier plus solar reflectance to minimize heat island effect, and minimize impact on micro climates, human and wildlife habitats.

Energy and Atmosphere (EA)

  • Credit 1 - Optimize Energy Performance (1 to 19 pts.)

    • Tech-Crete® insulated roof and wall panels can help to achieve increasing levels of energy performance beyond the prerequisite standard.

Material and Resources (MR)

  • Credit 1.1 - Building Reuse: Maintain Existing Walls, Floors and Roof (1 pt.)

    • Tech-Crete® insulated roof and wall panels can be easily reconfigured and reused on existing sound building exteriors.

  • Credit 2 - Construction Waste Management (1 to 2 pts.)

    • Tech-Crete® insulated roof and wall panels employ minimal packaging.

    • Trimmed pieces or damaged panels can be used as thermal barriers for additional frost protection/minimum cover requirements over buried service lines, rather than being discarded.

  • Credit 3 - Materials Reuse (1 to 2 pts.)

    • With care during dismantling, Tech-Crete® insulated panels can be reused in expansion, renovation and building reuse. If building design or decommissioned panel condition precludes exterior reuse, consider Tech-Crete® insulated panels as a thermal barrier under heated slabs, or for additional frost protection/minimum cover requirements over buried service lines.

  • Credit 5 - Regional Materials (1 to 2 pts.)

    • For CTI® and CFI®, a minimum 80% of raw material mass is extracted and manufactured within an 800 km (500 mi) radius of the manufacturing plant in Salmon Arm, BC. Products are within an 800 km (500 mi) radius of most projects in Western Canada, and North Western United States.

Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)

  • Credit 3.1 - Construction IAQ Management Plan: During Construction (1 pt.)

    • Tech-Crete® insulated roof and wall panels can be installed in any weather during the building envelope stage, therefore insulating the interior and minimizing moisture damage.

  • Credit 7.1 - Thermal Comfort: Design (1 pt.)

    • Tech-Crete® insulated roof and wall panels effectively insulate and control moisture, especially that caused by dew point condensation.

Innovation in Design (ID)

  • Credit 1 - Innovation in Design (1 to 5 pts.)

    • Tech-Crete® insulated roof and wall panels provide design teams with the opportunity to achieve exceptional performance in energy conservation.

Regional Priority (RP)

  • Credit 1 - Durable Building (1 pt.)

    • Tech-Crete® insulated roof and wall panels provide protection against premature deterioration and failure of the roof membrane, foundation and wall elements of the structure.

  • Credit 2 - Regional Priority Credit (1 to 3 pts.)

    • Tech-Crete’s SRI® roof panels reduce the heat island effect which is a major concern in large urban areas.

    • Tech-Crete’s CFI® wall panels will significantly decrease or eliminate interior moisture problems caused by condensation coming thru the walls. This is especially beneficial in areas of high humidity.

Tech-Crete Processors Ltd. Commitment to Sustainability:

  • All Tech-Crete® insulated panel products use Styrofoam™ brand foam insulation, a superior moisture resistant material with long-term thermal performance.

  • All Tech-Crete® insulated panel products are hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) free with zero ozone-depletion potential. Tech-Crete® insulated panel products will help achieve energy efficiency with a product that is itself produced in an environmentally responsible way.

Tech-Crete® insulated panel products are reusable in many applications.

  • Tech-Crete® insulated panel products come with minimal packaging.

  • A comprehensive recycling program is used in the manufacturing process.

    • Wash water is recovered and reused - a closed system

    • Waste mortar (approximately 26 yd³ (20 m³) annually is allowed to hydrate and used in appropriate fill applications

    • Styrofoam™ sawdust is pelletized, stored, dried and sent to a plastics recycler - a closed system
